Fireworks in Hendersonville on July 4th

Hendersonville – The city refuses to let their highly successful 4th of July celebration totally fizzle due to COVID19. The Tourism Development Authority of Henderson County  has come up with an  imaginative solution which allows them to keep socially distancing in keeping with the Governor’s requirements.  Sadly,  there won’t be the wonderful military salutes followed by a celebratory concert that the city has been having for years.   That would mean too big a crowd gathering and possibly cause people to gather too close to each other.

With the help of a local pyrotechnist,  The TDA will be setting off a full array of fireworks at 9:30 PM on Saturday, the 4th of July.  They have planned it so it can be seen by a large swath of the population.  Hendersonville is one of the very few towns in the state having a fireworks celebration. The Independence Day Fireworks Display may be viewed from downtown Hendersonville and the south side of town near the intersection of Hwy. 225 South and Hwy. 176.  The fireworks launch site is off of South Grove Street. Parking lots near the Visitors Center and downtown Hendersonville, as well as many large stores, such as the lots of Fresh Market, Ingles, and most probably Point Lookout,  will all be great spots to watch the firework display.   To be sure you can see the fireworks, a big red balloon is being sent up in the air in the morning of the 4th.   If you can see this big red balloon, you will be able to see the fireworks later that evening from your location.   In addition, the radio station WTZQ is synchronizing the fireworks on air to music which can be heard on your car radio. This should add excitement to the beautiful array of floating fireworks, as they light the sky in wonderful colors to celebrate Independence Day.

The concert season held at the Visitor Center has been pushed back this year. As the governor changes his requirements during the pandemic, be sure to check with the Visitors Center before attending. Currently the schedule is:  Music will start on Monday nights July 20th, August 3, 17, & 31st,  followed by Music on Main Street on Friday Nights July 24 – September 18. The 102nd Annual Street Dances are scheduled to run Monday nights July 27, August 10, 24 & September 14th. All concerts are 7-9pm on the Visitor Center stage.
