Sports Physicals for Local Athletes

Hendersonville – Pardee UNC Health Care, Southeastern Sports Medicine and Orthopedics to Offer Sports Physicals for Local Student-Athletes at 22 Area Schools

Pardee UNC Health Care and Southeastern Sports Medicine and Orthopedics announced today their annual initiative to administer sports physicals for local student-athletes who attend 22 middle schools and high schools in the surrounding area. All physicals will take place from April 28th through May 27th in respective middle school or high school gymnasiums.

To play school sports, all student-athletes are required by state law to receive an annual physical each academic year for health and safety reasons.  Pardee UNC Health Care has provided these sports physicals for many years, with support from Southeastern Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, Pardee Sports Medicine, and providers from the Pardee Primary Care network and Urgent Care locations. Sports physicals are an important step in preparation for the 2021-2022 academic year.

“Our primary concern is the safety of our student-athletes in any sport they play,” said Dan Hein, administrative director of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. “The convenience of offering sports physicals in a familiar setting is helpful to our student-athletes and families alike.”

Registration forms for the athletes’ physicals are available from respective team coaches or school front offices. Each student-athlete who plans on receiving a sports physical on the scheduled day must bring a completed registration form with a parent’s signature. Cost per child varies depending on each school administration, and parents will be informed via the schools’ respective websites, newsletters, or by email communications. Each physical will be administered by a certified health provider, and schools will ensure there is privacy for students during each physical examination.
