Boiling Spring, NC – A North Buncombe High graduate and current Gardner-Webb sophomore and softball player recently received an honor from the Big South Conference at the conclusion of the 2022 season. Riley McCurry, a former Black Hawk, was selected to the All-Academic Team. During her time at Gardner-Webb, McCurry maintained a 3.89 GPA in Biology. This season, she has started 37 times while appearing in 42 total games. She holds the fourth-highest batting average on the team (.212) and has accounted for six RBIs and three doubles while collecting 24 total bases. Riley’s parents are Phil and Tracy McCurry, and her grandparents, Darrell and Carolyn McCurry, both of Weaverville. Riley played under Coach Tiffany Ferguson while at North Buncombe High School.
