Music of the Eagles This Saturday Night

Graphic submitted.

Mills RiverThe Music of the Eagles outdoor concert will be this Saturday night in West Henderson’s Johnson Field.
For the second summer in a row, Flat Rock Playhouse presents a stadium show as part of its Music on the Rock® series. The show sold out in 2021.

Four of the five musicians in this lineup played over the past decade in FRP Music on the Rock® tributes to legendary rock and pop performers, including The Beatles, and, of course, rock-pop-country greats The Eagles last year and before that in Tribute to the Eagles.

These seasoned professionals of musicals and concerts have impressive gigs outside of the playhouse. For instance, Dustin Brayley is a Trans-Siberian Orchestra guitarist and singer. He was recently on Broadway in Rocktopia, on stage with rock stars Robin Zander of Cheap Trick and Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider.

Brayley starred in national tours of Saturday Night Fever, Miss Saigon, and Rent. Brayley is a founding member of Here Comes The Sun: A Celebration of the Music of The Beatles that performed for FRP patrons. He was in the Music on the Rock® opener in 2022, The Music of Tom Petty. He acted in films and on television.

Ryan Guerra also an original in the Beatles tribute act. The guitarist-vocalist was the musical director for Music on the Rock® tribute concerts to the Beatles, Eagles, Allman Brothers, and James Taylor. Guerra first acted at FRP in 2010. He has a recurring musical gig on a steamboat in Oregon.

Perky Perkins Too

Tall multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Sevelovitz is new to this lineup of musicians. He is very familiar with FRP patrons in recent seasons. He played Carl Perkins in the Million Dollar Quartet musical that concluded Sunday at the Playhouse. The New York City native was part of the We The People national theatrical tour. He released a CD of his original music in 2014. Four years later, he helped launch Tundra Productions to put on musical tribute shows across the country.

Bearded, burly guitarist Ryan Dunn is familiar to FRP patrons both in musicals and concerts. He and his wife Annalyse McCoy began songwriting in 2010, writing as Annalyse & Ryan, and formed the band 2/3 Goat. The duo hosted a series called The Valley Hour during the pandemic, featuring Grammy-winning artists in New York’s Hudson Valley.

Drummer Paul Babelay is the longest-tenured member of FRP in the band — for 29 years. He conducts the Biltmore Community Orchestra. He is integral to the Here Comes the Sun Beatles tribute act. Babelay once jammed on stage with Chaka Khan. He taught songwriting workshops for the National Endowment for the Arts.

The stage for The Music of the Eagles is at mid-field, facing the home bleachers. At press time, tickets were still available for the bleachers. Tickets cost $45 per adult on benches in the bleachers’ main/center section closest to the stage, or are $25 for those younger than 18. Either side of that is bring-your-own-chair seating that costs $20 per adult or $15 per youth. There is a $4 per ticket service fee for ticket orders by phone or the internet.
