Asheville – James Bond fans who happen to be around Asheville on New Year’s Eve might enjoy a performance at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, where the Asheville Symphony Orchestra (ASO) will perform versions of famous songs from the series.

It won’t take a secret agent to find out information about the show.

Taking place on Dec. 31 at 8 p.m., the show will feature hits from various films in the series, like Goldfinger, Skyfall, and others, and according to Music Director Darko Butorac in a press release, the songs being written with orchestras in mind made them suitable for a concert.

Guest vocalists Mikki Sodergren and Jonathan Christopher will join the ASO for the performance, lending their diverse talents to the spy-themed music.

Sondgren, a mezzo-soprano, has worked with various ensembles like the Asheville, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Charleston, Hilton Head, and Johnstown symphonies, the Savannah Philharmonic, the Washington Bach Consort, and others. She’s developed musicals for various institutions and has toured internationally.

Meanwhile, Christopher, who possesses a “hearty” baritone, is well known in New York for productions at Lincoln Center, Signature Theatre, and Brooklyn Playhouse Theatre, and has two musicals coming up on Broadway soon. He’s performed in musicals and operas on multiple continents and in the Caribbean, including performances in Rent and Hamilton.

“The music and songs of James Bond films have always held a special place in my heart, whether it is Billie Eilish, Adele, Paul McCartney, or Shirley Bassey,” commented Director Butorac in a recent press release.
