North Buncombe – It’s spring high school play season again! This year, North Buncombe High will present Mary Poppins in the school theater at 890 Clarks Chapel Rd, Weaverville. There will be four shows: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday April 27-29 at 7 pm, and Sunday 30th at 2:30 pm. Tickets are available at https://bit.ly/40S925f, or at the door before each show.
Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins delighted Broadway audiences for over 2,500 performances and received nominations for nine Olivier and seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
Jack-of-all-trades Bert introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises, “Anything can happen if you let it.”
The North Buncombe High School Theatre Department has a long tradition of producing plays to entertain, move and delight the community. Director Rick Webb is in his 25th year at North Buncombe High School, bringing a taste of Broadway to the high school stage and developing the talents of a new generation of students.

We are so excited to be able to share the extra magic of flight with our students and our community. We are excited to partner with ON THE FLY PRODUCTIONS to bring the element of flying to the stage. Not only does the show entertain through music, special effects and dance, but it touches our hearts through the dramatic moments of the show as well.”
