With an illustrious musical career that spans over three decades, David Woodard brings a wealth of talent to his Asheville audience. Having retired to Western North Carolina in 2010 after 31 years of teaching music in South Carolina, Woodard has since become a prominent figure in the local music scene. Notable vocal experiences include his participation in Asheville Lyric Opera’s productions of Tosca, Die Fledermaus, Barber of Seville, La Traviata, and The Magic Flute. Adding to these accolades, Woodard also played the role of “The Singing Servant” in La Traviata. Additionally, he has made memorable appearances with the Asheville Symphony Chorus and Chamber Singers, even soloing in Benjamin Brittan’s “Rejoice in the Lamb.” Notably, he lent his bass solos to the ASC Sing-Along-Messiah Concerts, leaving audiences spellbound.
Alongside Woodard, the talented James Taulbee will provide accompaniment. With a deep-rooted love for music that began in his early childhood, Taulbee’s passion for piano led him to pursue a career as an organist. After completing his studies at Westminster Choir College and USC, he held various prestigious positions as an organist and choirmaster. Currently a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Asheville, Taulbee finds joy in singing in the choir and occasionally playing the organ.
