Weaverville – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has appointed a new Bishop and two counselors in the Weaverville Ward, located on Monticello Road near the intersection of U.S. 25/U.S. 70 and I-26. This congregation, established in 1985, serves the area from the Tennessee border in the north down to Pensacola in the East and Sandymush and Leicester in the West.

Dustin Dye, the new Bishop, is a real estate investor and developer who moved his family to Mars Hill in 2019 from St. Augustine, FL. He and his wife have served as a volunteers at the church in various capacities since then. His first counselor, Aaron Broyles, has lived with his family in Mars Hill for 11 years. He works as a Podiatrist and co-owner of Alta Ridge Foot Specialists. His second counselor, Cameron Steflik, is an associate Optometrist at Envision Eyecare from Elko, NV who moved to North Carolina earlier this year. Because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints operates using a lay ministry, all three men will serve in this Bishopric in a voluntary capacity for about the next five years.

About their new calling, Bishop Dye says, “I’m grateful for this opportunity to serve and work with the wonderful saints in the Weaverville area. I especially look forward to fostering a greater sense of love and community within the ward, and having fun and growing spiritually along with our outstanding youth.”
