Asheville – Asheville’s Community & Economic Development Department will be hosting a Community Feedback Session on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, to present the findings and draft recommendations for the Affordable Housing Plan. The session aims to engage the community in interactive discussions regarding strategies to address affordable housing issues using City resources.
The event will showcase a comprehensive presentation of the plan’s findings, covering demographic and market analyses, equity considerations, survey results, and key themes identified from previous engagement events. Attendees can expect to weigh in on the draft recommendations for affordable housing initiatives during the session, which will be held at Harrah’s Cherokee Center, Banquet Hall.
Sasha Vrtunski, Affordable Housing Officer at the City of Asheville’s Community and Economic Development Department, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming session, highlighting the significance of community participation in shaping a more equitable housing landscape in Asheville. Vrtunski emphasized the importance of addressing the impact of rising living costs on vulnerable populations and encouraged community members to take part in the feedback process.
Following the feedback session, consultants will reconvene in May to present the final draft of the Affordable Housing Plan and recommendations to the Asheville City Council.
