Asheville – In a move that has garnered significant attention in aviation circles, Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) announced the appointment of Ms. Alexandra “Lexie” Farmer, C.M., A.C.E., as the organization’s new Chief Operations Officer (COO). With a wealth of experience spanning two decades in airport leadership roles, Farmer has played a pivotal role in driving operational initiatives that align with the missions of the airports she has served. Armed with a master’s degree in public administration from Georgia State University and a bachelor’s degree in aviation management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, she boasts impressive academic credentials. Additionally, Farmer holds certifications as a Certified Member of the American Association of Airports Executives (A.A.A.E.), an Airport Certified Employee (A.C.E.), and an Airport Security Coordinator (A.S.C.).

In response to her new role, Farmer expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I am so excited to join the Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority and be part of a team that is dedicated to meeting current demands while planning for the airport’s future growth in Asheville.”

Lew Bleiweis, President and CEO of the Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority, praised Farmer’s appointment, noting, “Lexie rose to the top of a strong field of candidates from around the nation. Her passion for the airport industry, coupled with her extensive experience leading operational initiatives at large airports, will be a valuable asset to the senior management team at AVL. We are eager to officially welcome her in May.”
