Weaverville – The Weaverville Annual Memorial Day Observance is set to take place on Monday, May 27, starting at 11 am at the Community Center with a picturesque view of Lake Louise. This year’s guest speaker is Lieutenant General (3 stars) Kathleen Gaines, USA (Retired), who dedicated 35 years to serving in the military. A graduate of both the Army Command and Army War College, she last held the position of Deputy Commander at the US Transportation Command located at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. Lt. General Gaines was recently honored with induction into the Army Women’s Hall of Fame for her outstanding achievements.
The day’s program is filled with a diverse range of activities designed to captivate and inspire our attendees. The schedule includes an Invocation and Benediction led by Rev. Mike Holder, stirring patriotic melodies performed by the esteemed Reuter Center Singers, a touching video showcasing the Rifle Salute by the Weaverville Police, Taps reverently played by the Fire Department, and the classic “Amazing Grace” beautifully executed on bagpipes by Howard Dusenbery. Each component of the program has been thoughtfully selected to pay tribute to our military service members and create a profound and unforgettable experience for all those in attendance.
