Weaverville – It’s been absent from the Town of Weaverville for three years, but on Thursday, April 25th, Rodney’s Auto Bike Nite returned to the streets of the town. As people walked around looking at classic cars and motorcycles, music played, and food was plentiful with a good turnout, but does this mean Bike Nite is back?
Not so fast, says Rodney Edwards, owner of Rodney’s Auto Repair and sponsor of the popular street event that comes close to taking over N. Main Street when it happens. Edwards is not sure if he is ready to commit to any more of the events. He wanted to see how this first one went, so it remains to be seen if Bike Nite will have any more events this year or ever.
The event used to be a monthly regular and raised money for veterans, like Thursday’s event, which raised over $1,000. It’s also a volunteer effort by Edwards and his staff of community members to do good and give back. Eventgoers could even find local Dr. Woody Bolinger manning the grill and other Lion’s Club members helping out at the event. Rodney said people interested in another event, if he has one, should key their eye on Rodney’s Auto Facebook page.
