Hendersonville – Lafoy Ball Jr., 57, of Hendersonville, was recently sentenced to a minimum of 110 months and a maximum of 144 months in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of Felony Larceny, including one Felony Larceny from a Construction Site. Ball also acknowledged his status as a Habitual Felon during the hearing. The sentencing was presided over by the Honorable Superior Court Judge Peter Knight.
The charges stemmed from an incident that took place on September 18, 2022, where a Ford F-150 was used to steal 25 Zip Boards from Moore and Son Site Contractors. The contracting company representative reported the larceny to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office the following day. Surveillance footage from the construction site revealed Ball, a familiar face to the deputies, sitting in the passenger seat of a gold Ford F-150 as the boards were being loaded into the truck.
Interestingly, Ball was apprehended by deputies on September 19, 2022, for unrelated charges. During the arrest, deputies noticed a gold Ford F-150 that matched the description of the vehicle seen in the surveillance video. Upon closer inspection, zip boards were found in the truck’s bed. This led to the issuance of a warrant for Ball’s arrest on charges of Felony Larceny from a Construction Site and Felony Possession of Stolen Goods.
Law enforcement officers subsequently visited Ball’s residence where they informed him of the reason for their presence. They also questioned him about the stolen goods, presenting him with the evidence of his involvement captured by the surveillance footage. Ball admitted to taking the zip boards and confessed to selling them to an unknown individual in South Carolina. Unfortunately, he claimed that he was unable to reach the buyer.
Further investigation led deputies to search Ball’s garage, where they discovered the gold Ford F-150 parked without any zip boards in the bed. They promptly arrested Ball and transported him to the Henderson County Jail.
During the course of the hearing, Ball also confessed to his status as a Habitual Felon. This designation requires the defendant to have three prior felony convictions before committing the underlying felony that qualifies them as a habitual felon.
District Attorney Andrew Murray commended the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office for their diligent investigation and unwavering dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of Henderson County residents.
The sentencing of Lafoy Ball Jr. serves as a reminder that criminal activities will not be tolerated in our community. It is a testament to the commitment of law enforcement and the justice system to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
