Fletcher – The Wee Trade community is gearing up for its annual summer sale event, scheduled for August 2-4, 2024, at the WNC Ag Center near Asheville Airport. This event, which has become a staple for local families over the past 23 years, promises significant savings and an opportunity to foster community spirit.
Members of the press are invited to cover the event during a special preview presale on August 1, starting at 9:30 a.m. This early access is intended to assist families in finding essential items at reduced prices this season.
The sale will take place in the Davis Building at the WNC Ag Center, located at 761 New Boylston Hwy, Fletcher, NC. The three-day event will feature an impressive 45,000 square feet of quality consigned goods at discounts ranging from 70% to 90% off retail prices. Attendees can expect to find a wide array of items for children and teenagers, including strollers, nursery furniture, clothing, and toys. Additionally, the sale emphasizes sustainability, allowing families to shop responsibly while supporting local businesses.
The public shopping schedule is as follows: On Friday, August 2, shopping will be available from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, August 3, will feature a Wee Trade Family Fun Day, with hours from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, August 4, will offer shopping from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with most items at 50% off.
Special pre-sale access is provided on August 1. New and due parents and grandparents who pre-register can shop at 4:30 p.m., followed by teachers, first responders, and foster families at 6:30 p.m. The event will close that evening at 9:00 p.m., but those with Thursday access may return at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Free pre-sale tickets are available for eligible attendees.
On Friday, August 2, an exclusive fundraiser presale will be held at 10:00 a.m., with $5 tickets available for purchase. All proceeds will benefit the Prom Dress Exchange.
Wee Trade is not merely a sale but a vital community event that supports over 1,600 families who consign their items twice a year. The initiative allows families to save money on essential items while promoting sustainability and charitable giving. The organization partners with nearly 24 non-profits each season, donating high-quality items and contributing thousands of dollars to support their missions. Beneficiaries include organizations such as ABCCM, Babies Need Bottoms, and Buncombe County Schools Bookmobile.
Volunteers are always welcome to assist in sorting donations after the sale, and those interested can sign up to support these vital organizations. Additionally, foster families can shop for free during the designated Foster Power Hour, with registration required.
