Asheville – The Center for Spiritual Living Asheville will host an engaging workshop titled “Art of Transformation,” led by renowned Goodwill Cultural Ambassador and international performing artist Ronald Rand. The event is set for September 6, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the center located at 2 Science of Mind Way. The workshop is open to individuals of all ages and backgrounds, with a special admission price of $20. Reservations can be made by contacting the center at 828-253-2325.

Rand’s workshop promises to be both inspiring and enjoyable, offering participants a chance to explore their creativity through storytelling, improvisation, poetry, song, and movement exercises. Central to the experience is the use of Stanislavsky’s original “Method of Physical Actions” acting chart, which consists of 40 tools designed to help individuals express themselves authentically on stage and in daily life.

In a statement about the workshop, Rand shared, “Art teaches us we each carry tools to transform, not only in our own lives but to share truths about how to live with those around us. We can shape our joys into creative expressions of storytelling through Transformation, as long as we’re willing to find ways to teach each other a way forward through peace, through love. We each carry within us a ‘deep well’ we can draw from every day to guide ourselves. Through the power of art, we can inspire each other to come together to live in harmony.”

Rand’s extensive experience as a performer and educator is evident in his global reach. He has conducted his Master Workshop in 26 countries and 20 states, engaging audiences at theaters, art centers, universities, and festivals worldwide. Currently, he is in his 24th year of touring with his solo play “LET IT BE ART!”, a production that has garnered standing ovations in three critically acclaimed Off-Broadway shows. His performances have taken him across the globe, including notable engagements at the Theatre Olympics and multiple tours in India, where he brings to life the character of Harold Clurman, known as the “Elder Statesman of the American Theatre.”

Rand’s impressive résumé also includes roles in over a hundred films and television shows. He has appeared alongside iconic actors such as Sean Connery and Dustin Hoffman in “Family Business,” Tom Cruise in “Vanilla Sky,” and Yoko Ono in “Homeless.” Additionally, he has performed in various skits on “Saturday Night Live” and held recurring roles on notable soap operas like “One Life to Love,” “Another World,” and “As the World Turns.” His filmography also includes a role opposite Ralph Fiennes in “Quiz Show,” directed by Robert Redford.

With over thirty-five years of experience as a Master Acting Teacher in New York City, Rand has cultivated a reputation as an international award-winning director. His expertise has been recognized through four Fulbright Awards, leading to his role as a Fulbright Specialist and Visiting Guest Professor, where he has traveled the world sharing his insights and knowledge in the performing arts.

Rand is also the founder and publisher of “The Soul of the American Actor” newspaper, as well as the best-selling author of “CREATE!” which features interviews with notable figures such as Carol Burnett, Chaka Khan, Ben Vereen, and Ellen Burstyn. His other works include “Acting Teachers of America” and “Solo Transformation on Stage,” which offers guidance on creating individual solo performances. Additionally, he composed the libretto for “IBSEN,” the first opera dedicated to the life and works of Henrik Ibsen.

The upcoming “Art of Transformation” workshop at the Center for Spiritual Living Asheville presents a unique opportunity for participants to discover and develop their artistic voices under the guidance of an experienced and passionate instructor. Ronald Rand’s commitment to fostering creativity and connection through the arts resonates throughout his work and is expected to provide a valuable experience for all attendees.

For those interested in participating, early reservations are encouraged, as spaces may be limited for this enriching workshop. The Center for Spiritual Living Asheville welcomes individuals from all walks of life to explore the transformative power of art and storytelling, reinforcing Rand’s belief that through creativity, communities can come together in harmony.
