With over a decade of experience as mayor, Manheimer brings a deep understanding of the local economy and the challenges faced by residents. She emphasized that the recovery process involves securing funding for individuals, businesses, and local governments to restore vital infrastructure. “The challenges in the face of recovery primarily concern funding for individuals, businesses, and local governments to restore our homes, buildings, roads, utilities, parks and other infrastructure necessary to get back on our feet,” she explained.

Strengthening Community Resilience

Manheimer’s role in the transition team is not just about immediate recovery; it’s also about building long-term resilience for Asheville and Western North Carolina. By being part of the leadership team, she aims to streamline state-level support and enhance the city’s capacity to recover effectively. “I have served as mayor of Asheville for more than 10 years and with that bring my understanding of the people and the economy of WNC to help guide the administration as it shapes its recovery effort and goals for all of WNC,” she said.
