Hendersonville – The Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra (HSO) recently unveiled an exciting new concert series titled “Music in the Vines,” set to take place this May at Marked Tree Vineyard in Flat Rock. This series promises to deliver a diverse array of musical performances, ranging from classical and jazz to modern pop, all amidst the stunning backdrop of the vineyard’s rolling hills.
Kickoff with Queen Bee and the Honey Lovers
The series is scheduled to commence on Friday, May 9th, featuring Queen Bee and the Honey Lovers, an Asheville-based dance band known for their captivating performances of classic swing, blues, and Latin music. The band has earned accolades as the best in Jazz since 2019 in the Mountain Xpress “Best Of” poll. “We are thrilled to kick off this series with such a talented group,” said HSO spokesperson, who emphasized the importance of local talent in the lineup.
Following this inaugural performance, the Meadowlark String Quartet will take the stage on May 16th. Comprised of members from the HSO, this ensemble is recognized for its compelling blend of contemporary and classical works. “Our goal is to create an engaging experience that resonates with a wide audience,” noted a member of the quartet, highlighting their commitment to musical diversity.
Celebrating Milestones with WireWood
On May 23rd, the series will celebrate Marked Tree Vineyard’s 5th Anniversary with a performance by WireWood, a Greenville-based guitar and cello duo. Known for their unique instrumental renditions of popular rock and pop songs, WireWood aims to bring a fresh sound to the vineyard. “We’re excited to be part of this celebration and share our music in such a beautiful setting,” said one of the duo’s members.
The final performance on May 30th will feature the Café String Quartet, a well-known ensemble throughout Western North Carolina. Their repertoire includes a variety of musical styles, from classical and traditional pieces to jazz standards and contemporary songs. “We look forward to closing out the series with a performance that showcases our versatility,” stated a representative from the quartet.
Each concert will begin at 6:30 PM, transforming the iconic Marked Tree Crushpad into an inviting venue for music lovers. Attendees can expect not only exceptional performances but also an opportunity to enjoy fantastic wine from the vineyard. “We believe that music and wine create a perfect pairing for an unforgettable evening,” remarked a spokesperson for Marked Tree Vineyard.
The Spirit of Marked Tree is deeply rooted in history, drawing inspiration from early American settlers who used uniquely shaped trees as navigation guides. This ethos resonates with the vineyard’s founders, who sought to create a space where diverse paths could converge. “Our passion for farming, meeting new people, and creating memorable experiences led us here,” they shared.
As the HSO prepares for this inaugural series, they invite the community to join them for an unforgettable outdoor chamber music experience at Marked Tree Vineyard. With a lineup that celebrates local talent and diverse musical genres, “Music in the Vines” promises to be a highlight of the spring season.
