Flat Rock – The Feast of St. John the Baptist will take place on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Little Rainbow Row in Flat Rock, North Carolina. This annual event, hosted by The Episcopal Church of St. John in the Wilderness, aims to bring together the community for an evening of food, fellowship, and live music.
Community Spirit and Festivities
Scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m., the celebration will feature performances by local musician Aaron Burdett, known for his work with the Steep Canyon Rangers. Burdett expresses his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “I am looking forward to performing at this wonderful celebration so close to my home. The mountains of WNC have certainly shaped my music and my life and I can’t wait to see everyone in Flat Rock!” Music will begin at 6 p.m., with attendees encouraged to arrive early to secure food and seating.
The event promises a family-friendly atmosphere with yard games for children and a variety of food options available for purchase from local vendors, including Hubba Hubba Smokehouse and Flat Rock Village Bakery. Reverend Josh Stephens, Rector of St. John in the Wilderness, will highlight the significance of the celebration, saying, “The Feast of St. John is a celebration of our parish and this amazing place that we call home. St. John in the Wilderness has been shaped by these mountains and all who live here for nearly two centuries.”
Supporting Local Initiatives
Entry to the Feast will be free, with donations collected to benefit the Flat Rock Backpack Program, which provides food assistance to school children during breaks. Reverend Stephens will emphasize the dual purpose of the event: “Our concert will also benefit our Flat Rock Backpack Program which sends food home with school children and helps these families during breaks from school as well. Please join us on June 29!”
The Feast of St. John will be made possible through the Endowment of St. John in the Wilderness and the generosity of its parishioners. For those interested in attending or learning more about the event, additional information will be available on their website or by contacting the church directly.
This celebration will not only honor the church’s patron saint but also reinforce community ties and support local families in need, showcasing the spirit of giving that defines Henderson County.
