Asheville – ALDI celebrated the grand reopening of its East Asheville store on July 10, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the community’s recovery from Hurricane Helene. The event not only welcomed back shoppers but also highlighted ALDI’s commitment to supporting local resilience through a $10,000 donation to MANNA FoodBank.

Community Resilience on Display

The reopening drew a large crowd, with lines wrapping around the store as residents expressed their excitement to return to a familiar shopping destination. “ALDI and the Asheville community share in the excitement of re-opening our store on Swannanoa River Road and restoring access to quality groceries at the nation’s lowest prices,” said JR Perry, ALDI Regional Vice President. He noted that the turnout exemplified the community’s eagerness to reconnect with the store after months of closure due to storm damage.

As part of the grand reopening festivities, the first 100 customers received gift bags filled with ALDI-exclusive products and gift cards through the ALDI Golden Ticket giveaway program. This initiative aims to engage new shoppers and introduce them to the unique offerings of ALDI. Perry explained, “The ALDI Golden Ticket giveaway program is a cornerstone of fostering customer engagement and community relationships.”

In addition to the giveaways, ALDI provided complimentary breakfast pastries and refreshments as a gesture of appreciation for the community’s support during the recovery process. The store will operate daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., offering a wide range of affordable groceries, including organic meats, fresh produce, and sustainable seafood.

Commitment to Food Security

ALDI’s donation to MANNA FoodBank underscores its ongoing partnership with Feeding America and commitment to addressing food insecurity in Western North Carolina. Perry stated, “This donation reflects the ALDI commitment to ensuring the Asheville community has access to fresh food as they continue to recover and rebuild.” The funds will support emergency food distribution efforts in the area, helping those affected by the hurricane.

The company had previously contributed $1 million to the American Red Cross and provided disaster relief boxes in collaboration with Feeding America immediately following Hurricane Helene. Perry emphasized that ALDI is dedicated to making a positive impact on communities, focusing on creating lasting change through partnerships with nonprofit organizations that promote health and wellness.

Looking ahead, ALDI plans to continue its support for communities affected by natural disasters. Perry mentioned, “Together, we strive to make a meaningful difference where it matters most,” highlighting the company’s commitment to long-term recovery efforts.

ALDI’s approach combines affordability with quality, allowing families to save significantly on their grocery bills. According to the 2025 ALDI Price Leadership Report, families can save nearly $4,000 annually by choosing ALDI-exclusive products over name brands. The store’s simplicity in product selection also helps customers save time and money while shopping.

The reopening of the East Asheville store not only restores access to essential groceries but also symbolizes hope and resilience for the community as it continues to recover from recent challenges.

ALDI is recognized as America’s fastest-growing grocer, serving millions of customers each month while maintaining a focus on sustainability and community engagement. The company has been named one of America’s Best Large Employers by Forbes multiple times, reflecting its commitment to providing exceptional employment opportunities.
