• On November 19, the Henderson County TOY RUN was held, during which a large group of bicyclists cycled across the city distributing toys to foster homes and other organizations. Their 25th anniversary was this past year.
• Since 1993, children all throughout the world have received shoebox presents from Operation Christmas Child that were loaded with fun toys, hygiene products, and school necessities. A shoebox may be packed by anyone! Operation Christmas Child anticipates reaching 200 million shoeboxes since the Christian mission began in 2022, which is enough to reach an additional 11 million children.
• On Saturday, vendors at the Hendersonville Farmers Market had provide farm-fresh goods to help you prepare a Thanksgiving feast for your family using local ingredients. Along Maple Street, more than 30 vendors had sold artisanal goods manufactured in the area as well as seasonal produce. The Mills River Farm Market also guaranteed a ton of festive treats.
• For decades, summer campers of all ages have flocked to Henderson County, making this region’s residential summer camp sector a significant contributor to the local economy. In addition to Buncombe, Jackson, and Transylvania Counties, Henderson County is a part of a four-county region recognized as the “Camping Capital of the USA” for its more than 50 summer camps. In Henderson County, there are over a dozen of these camps, some of which have been running continuously since the 1920s.
