As the school year comes to an end and summer approaches, now is the perfect time to start planning some fun outdoor activities for your kids in Western North Carolina. With the beautiful scenery and mild temperatures, it’s the perfect time to get your kids off screens and into the great outdoors.

Whether it’s a hike in the mountains, a picnic in a park, or a swim in a lake, there are plenty of easy-going to-dos that you can plan to keep your kids active and engaged. Not only will it be a great way to enjoy the beautiful weather, but it will also create lasting memories for you and your family.

One in honor of former Mayor Al Root (in picture) for his work on recovering a historical book that was stolen from the Dry Ridge Museum, and the other in honor of former Councilwoman Dottie Sherrill.
