Hey, when you’re out and about in the stunning landscapes of Western North Carolina, just make sure you play it cool around our adorable black bear neighbors, okay? These majestic creatures are part of the charm here, but it’s important to keep a safe distance, no bear hugs! Remember, don’t go tempting fate by trying to feed them. Keep your snacks and trash properly stored, roll with a buddy when hiking, and make some noise along the way. Let’s be good neighbors and ensure a harmonious coexistence in this awesome wilderness!

  • A Midsummer Night's Market - Aug 12, 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM -Painters Greenhouse, 734 Roy Moore Rd, Old Fort - Shop an extensive collection of mature and unique houseplants, assorted hanging baskets and porch pots, and massive trellised vines in porch pots to refresh your homes and gardens 🪴
  • Local Cloth's 2023 Summer Day Camp feature "Farm to Fabric" which includes carding, felting, spinning, dyenning and weaving! Class will meet twice per week until August 17 9:00am to 12:00pm at Local Cloth Studio 408 Depot St, Asheville. Click here to schedule your class! 🏕
  • Come Cup Coffees at our Roastery - Recurring on Haywood Rd.West AVL, every second Friday of the month at 12pm - " we will briefly explain the steps of cupping, and what it’s all about. We will tell you about the 6 coffees on the table as we go, and everyone will have a chance to ask questions as we smell all the smells and taste the tastes" ☕️
  • ArborEvening - Runs Thursdays and most Fridays through September 30th from 5:30pm to 8:00pm - Sip and stroll through the Arboretum’s gardens in the glow of the golden hour, all while listening to live music from a variety of local and regional artists! 🎶
  • Brews and Bears - Friday August 11th from 5:30pm to 8:00pm - Brews and Bears is an after-hours summer event series where you can enjoy the WNC Nature Center in the evening with a beer, cider, or wine in hand. There are also food vendors and educational programming, along with popsicle enrichment for black bears Uno and Ursa!🐻
