  • Join local creative writer R. Lyon Bergh for “Writing for the Screen” at The Asheville Studio, Thursdays from July 25 to November 14, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This course covers screenwriting fundamentals and the craft of creating compelling visual stories for investors, cast, crew, and audiences. Admission prices vary. Hendersonville:
  • The Hendersonville Symphony Youth Orchestra Programs offer coaching and performance opportunities for students from middle school to age 21, with weekly rehearsals for string, wind, and percussion players. Acceptance is by audition only. The Hendersonville Symphony Children’s Chorus, for grades 2 and up, promotes a love of singing through a non-auditioned ensemble. Weaverville:
  • Join us for “Appalachian Ballads” with Saro Lynch-Thomason on Thursday, September 19th at 7:00 PM at the Weaverville Community Center. This event is part of the “Mountain Strong” program from the Wilma Dykeman Legacy. Saro, an award-winning singer, folklorist, and documentarian, has dedicated over a decade to studying and teaching song and balladry from Appalachia, the American South, and the British Isles. Experience the music and discover the significant role ballads play in traditional Southern Mountain life. Don’t miss this enriching cultural experience!
