
– Calvin “Cal” Hale Wilson, 82, of Alexander, NC passed away on December 14, 2020. He was born March 5, 1938, in Birch River, WV.
In 1957, Cal married Maureen Cass in Gainesville, FL.
He served in the US Army for 8 years. He worked at Pratt Whitney and Honeywell as an Accounting Manager before moving to the Brooksville/Dade City area of FL where he and his wife started their own business (Cal Wilson Tractor Service Inc.) in 1973. In retirement, he was a part-time river rafting guide with Nantahala Outdoor Center for almost 20 years.
He was a founding member of Big Brothers of America in St. Petersburg, FL. He also served with his church, Holy Spirit Episcopal Church through the Prison Ministry in Buncombe County, NC.
Cal graduated from the University of Florida in 1963 and attended Gainesville High School in Florida.
He was an avid outdoorsman by way of fishing, snorkeling, motorcycle (trials, competition and enduro), travelling, camping, kayaking, white water rafting, tending to his farm, woodworking and vegetable gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen “Marnie” Wilson, children Victoria “Tori” Wilson, Shannon Dietz (Terry), and Brian Wilson (Katherine), grandchildren Zachary “Zach” Dietz (Brittany) and Courtney Dietz, and great grandchild Emilia Dietz.
Cal also is survived by his two siblings Glennis Black and Christy Chipley (Bob).
Cal also is survived by his “Little Brother” through Big Brothers of America Organization, Rick O’Connor (Sandy).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Goff and Olive Gale Wilson, his brother Dennis Wilson (Betty Wilson) and brother-in-law John Black.
He will be dearly missed as he was the best husband, dad, Grampa, brother, uncle and friend.
