The 2025 WNC Parade of Homes showcased a variety of residences while emphasizing community resilience and innovation in homebuilding. With both in-person and virtual options available, attendees experienced a celebration of creativity and craftsmanship from local builders. The event highlighted partnerships aimed at promoting sustainable living and affordable housing initiatives. The Henderson County Republican Men’s Club hosted Republican judicial candidates Craig Collins, Matt Smith, and Sarah Sevens on August 9th. The event aimed to connect candidates with local voters ahead of the November 2026 elections. Monthly meetings feature a breakfast buffet and are open to all registered Republicans. Reservations were required for attendance. Wolf Ridge, formerly Wolf Laurel Ski Resort is under new management. Last year, Deb and David Hatley couldn't have asked for a better opening season at Hatley Pointe. Since then, they've been working on a mountain bike park that capitalizes on the same 700-foot drop, while intersecting with skiing activities as little as possible. The bike trails will be serviced by the same lifts the skiers use. This high spirited showcase of the region’s traditional music and dance is one of the oldest continuously running folk festivals in the nation. The City of Asheville is holding itself to its goal of emitting no carbon into the atmosphere by 2030. To help, a pilot project, recently completed, explored the feasibility of investing in a pyrolyzer to dispose of woody debris.
