Asheville – For several months, the Tribune Papers has been working behind the scenes to join forces with the Biltmore Beacon, also a community weekly paper serving the region. Together, we will deliver a stronger, broader, and more comprehensive newspaper for Buncombe and Henderson counties.
In August, the two publications will officially merge as the Beacon Tribune, expanding into a full broadsheet newspaper with more news, more features and more coverage to better showcase the stories that matter to our community.
This exciting transition marks the blending of two newspapers — with nearly five decades of combined experience covering Buncombe and Henderson counties — into a single, trusted source for news, arts, culture, outdoors, business and the critical issues facing our region with a wider distribution than ever before.
Our subscribers and readers come from diverse backgrounds and communities from Black Mountain to Biltmore Forest, from Candler to Fairview, from Hendersonville to Weaverville, from Leicester to Mills River. The new Beacon Tribune will elevate the tradition of local journalism while reaching more homes, more neighborhoods, and more readers.
The Beacon Tribune will be delivered through the mail and on racks in August. Readers can sign up for a trial subscription at subscribe@thebeacontribune.com. We’re proud of what this merger represents: two publications coming together to ensure the future of local journalism in Western North Carolina.
As we transition into this new phase, we’re eager to hear from you about the stories you want to read. What do you feel is missing from your local news? What areas are underreported, or which communities are underrepresented?
Send your suggestions to our editors at editor@thebeacontribune.com or send a letter to the editor for our new opinion section at opinion@thebeacontribune.com. Stay tuned for surveys and upcoming opportunities to meet us in person as we seek your feedback on how we can best serve our readers.
We appreciate your patience as we work out the inevitable bumps in the road that come with a merger. Thank you for reading, and we hope you enjoy the new Beacon Tribune as much as we’ve enjoyed the journey to create it.
